The Millennium Gardens

On December 22, 2000, as a greeting from the 20th century to the generations of the third millennium, and to demonstrate the state of awareness of the relationship between culture and nature today, the first Millennium Garden was planted in Holstebro, Denmark. The Millennium Gardens are one-kilometer squares of land outlined by a perimeter of oak trees. This article discusses the background, content, and implementation challenges of this project, as well as its philosophical considerations.
