Abstract
“Land as Text” documents some of the ways in which landscape and language coincide. These range from a literal integration of text into the landscape, to an abstract metaphorical use of text to conceptualize landscape.
The journey from LAND to TEXT uses the vehicle of text itself to unite the various examples. The word chain is punctuated by terms about language, writing, and communication, each of which signals another example of Land as Text.
