Fredericks YR 1982 UL http://lj.uwpress.org/content/1/1/49.abstract AB One of the problems associated with retrieving documents in landscape architecture is the lack of a structured and controlled vocabulary for identifying those documents. To provide a solution to this problem, an indexing language for landscape architecture was constructed and presented in two forms: as a faceted display and as a thesaurus. The majority of the paper discusses the technique of facet analysis used to construct the faceted display. The arrangements and characteristics of the faceted display and the thesaurus are described. Conclusions of the paper mention the usefulness of the indexing language and steps for incorporating it into a document retrieval system.
