RT Journal Article SR Electronic T1 What History Should We Teach And Why? An Historian's Response JF Landscape Journal FD University of Wisconsin Press SP 191 OP 196 DO 10.3368/lj.16.2.191 VO 16 IS 2 A1 Dianne Harris YR 1997 UL http://lj.uwpress.org/content/16/2/191.abstract AB This essay responds to two recently published articles in Landscape Journal that proposed methods and models of instruction for history courses in landscape architectural curricula. It argues for the importance of history as a mechanism for cultural and intellectual enfranchisement rather than as instrumental to the design studio, and posits an alternative model for the teaching of landscape history.
